We know Moroccan rugs inside and out, and we've accumulated a whole lot of expertise being in the business for quite some time now. Our weaving partners are incredibly skilled and have been doing this for generations. Together, we’re able to create even the most detailed designs with ease. And if there’s a color you don’t see, no worries—we can custom-make it just for you.
It’s also important to know where your rug comes from—and who made it.
Every rug on Babakech is made entirely by hand by local women weavers in the Atlas Mountains of Morocco using natural and plant-dyed live wool. When you buy from us, you can confidently share the full story with your customers from the people who made it to the tradition it comes from.
Transparency matters. With Babakech, your payment goes directly to the women who wove your rug, not to middlemen or outside organizations. We only take a small portion to cover shipping and a fair profit, so the majority of what you pay supports the people who made your rug by hand.
Made by artisans. We work closely with registered cooperatives in Morocco, made up of some of the most skilled artisans in the country. To support the community and give back to our weavers, we reinvest a portion of our profit, 4% from each sale, directly into artisan-led initiatives.
Fair trade isn’t just a label, it’s how we operate every day. All core operations, from sourcing materials and customer service to shipping, are managed by our team in Marrakech. Our partnered cooperatives also take on important roles like quality checks, preparing orders, and coordinating with the weavers. This hands-on involvement gives artisans the chance to build new skills and take on meaningful work beyond their cooperatives—opportunities they can reinvest back into their own communities.
