Ait Ougharda is an Amazigh tribe in Morocco that has been making the Amazigh rugs for centuries using the Moroccan traditional method of weaving by hand that is mainly practiced by females. The local women of Ait Ougharda started making rugs due to the harsh weather conditions. As their rugs got popular, they have been more creative making rugs with unique designs and unusual colors palettes.
