Q: Should a Rug be Placed Beneath the couch? Or in Front?
A: Either way is possible! It all depends on the size of your rug and how your furniture is arranged. If you have a small rug, say 4' x 6' or 5' x 8', the best place for it is in front of the couch, favorably, centered under a coffee table if you have one.
If you have a medium-sized rug, such as a 6' x 9' or 8' x 10' style, we recommend placing it beneath the couch, with at least the front set of legs resting on the rug. And for rugs 9' x 12' and larger, you should have enough room to place all of your couch's legs on the rug.
We recommend purchasing as large a rug as your budget allows. After all, more rug coverage equals a cozier, more comfortable space! But, regardless of size, you can't go wrong with any of these three arrangements in spaces with sofas.
Q: How do You Get Rid Of Bumps After Buying One of Our Rugs?
A: Because our area rugs arrive rolled up in protective packaging at your door, they will most likely have a few bumps when you roll them out. This is completely normal! Over time, your rug will naturally flatten. If you need to speed up the process, place a couple of heavy books or weights on the particularly troublesome spots to help them flatten out faster.
Q: What Rug Color Should I Get for my Dark Brown Velvet Couch?
A: We adore brown velvet! And, fortunately, you have a wide variety of options when it comes to selecting a rug to match your couch.
If you prefer a more neutral look, cream and beige rugs are always a lovely complement, creating a color contrast without actually adding color. We like the idea of introducing texture to contrast with the smooth sheen of the velvet, such as with high-low pile rugs, tassels, or natural woven elements. Our Textured Trellis rug and Textured Diamond on Diamond rug are all available.
If you prefer something more colorful, look to the warm tones found in brown to help you choose a rug. Rugs with red, orange, or yellow accents complement brown beautifully, bringing out the warmth of the color while adding a splash of color to your space. Our Mythical Red rug and Tribal Charm rug are there to make a statement.
Q: Should I get multiple rugs if I have a large outdoor space? How can I make sure they match?
A: How amazing to have a large outdoor area! We love the idea of rolling out multiple outdoor rugs in outdoor spaces. It’s the perfect way to create separate “rooms” and really delineate each area of your outdoor space—like a dining area and sitting area, for example.
The main thing to remember when it comes to making sure your rugs match is that they should have something in common. This could be a color palette, a pattern, a style, or any other detail that you think ties them together.
